This is one of the most difficult situations you can run into…here’s why.
Since Hardwood floors are very porous many times you’re dealing with urine deposits that beneath the top surface of the word, thus having various stages of discoloration.

The first signs of a problem is when you see the finish have become dull. The next step is a light graying, the final step is the wood begins to turn black. The is the final stage before it’s too late. Believe it or not even if it has it has began to turn black there maybe some hope. If the wood floor hasn’t began to warped it just my be on the first level of urine burn.

That’s when the wood surface has been burned by the urine salts and the rug that covered it has created an environment for the urine to brake down the wood fibers and cause the beginning stages of wood burn.

This means the wood has absorbed a good portion of the urine deposits. In this case the wood floor needs to be treated, I recommend this Pet Odor Removal product and then you want have hardwood floor sanding done.

If you have the more advanced stage, which means the wood floor boards began to warp and is already black, this mean the wood floor board should be replaced and the rest of the floor sanded after doing so.

So depending on the level of damage, you’ll need to do either treatment plus sanding or treatment on the top surface and live with the urine graying or light urine burn on the surface. You can either live with it, but minimally treat it then decided which you can afford to do.
